looking at other instruct videos and improvements?

After finishing my video I've decide to look back at other instruct videos and comparing them to mine and seeing where i could improve.

Looking at this video he explains how to do the trick really well and that would be a improvement to my video because its text and not talking, therefore the text takes your eye away from the footage of whats happening but the talking is good because it acts as visual communication to the audience.

This looks like a student film so to me its interesting to see what other people have done, but the way he sets up this tension with out music is interesting because you think its going to be some trick or the cap is already loose/off then placed back on, however its good because he blows it off and therefore open. I enjoyed this film because it had very little text explaining anything and there was no background noise just the sound of him blowing at the bottle and at the end it was funny and the bottle was open on the floor just as the title said. Comparing it to mine they are very different because this one didn't need much explaining, but mine needed to because it was tricky, also the fact there was only two types of camera shot in this one but mine had variations not just a close up cutting to a wide medium shot.

Final Film showing.

This is my final video with a preset starter from motion(film editor). I think this video went really well but somethings I would do better is speeding up some clips because they take too long to show e.g. is the grind which takes 2 seconds to show, the other thing would be the slow motion capture because I would have made it bright however if it went any brighter the background goes grainy so I would like to recapture the actual catch with more lights so then it's not so dark.

Instruct Video Ideas

For my new unit OUDF 404 Digital film, we have to create a 1 minute video instructing (how to..)

I had a look at last years video's to give me some ideas of where I should start. Most of the videos where very silly and were related to ether hobbies or basic every day things e.g. making a cup of tea.
From this I got the idea of using my Diabolo.
Most of the tricks I have learnt are from Youtube and off that idea, looked back at a Youtuber called bboyDiabolo who shows many how to videos on his channel. From this I picked out the key points in the video and of the trick called the "Whip Catch"and off to plan a Story board.

So this is the video where i first learnt the trick. Looking back at this I think its a good idea to show the trick first then follow up with how to do the trick.
